Swank Digital Campus: Help & Apps

Guide to accessing and using Swank Digital Campus.

Recommended Browsers

Windows Users: use the latest versions of Chrome or Firefox.

Mac Users: use the latest version of Firefox. If prompted, install Google's Widevine Video Optimizer. (If using Internet Explorer 32-bit, install both Flash and Google's Widevine Video Optimizer at the prompt.)

Accessing Swank Off-Campus

Follow the directions below to access Swank Digital Campus when off-campus:

  • Go to myMSUTEXAS 
  • Click on Login to MSU Portal in the top left hand column.
  • Enter username and password to access MSU Portal.
  • Click on Library Databases in left hand column.
  • The page should then be redirected to the Research Databases page for Moffett Library.
  • Click on the A-Z Databases link.
  • Click on the S to search for Swank.
  • Click on Swank Digital Campus.
  • A new page will appear in your web browser for the Swank homepage. 


  • Go directly to Swank Digital Campus in the A-Z Databases List.
  • Click on the Swank Digital Campus link.
  • You will be directed to the Welcome to the MSU Remote Resource Access page.
  • Enter your username and password as directed for students or faculty/staff.
  • You will then be directed to the Swank homepage. 

Cast to your screen with Chromecast

You can cast Swank films to your big screen with Google Chromecast. 

Google Chromecast is supported for casting content to your tv or any device that has an HDMI input.  In order to cast content you must be using the latest version of the Google Chrome browser on a Mac or Windows machine.  Please visit Google's support pages at the link below for information on setting up your chromecast device. Quick FAQs

  • What titles are available from Swank Digital Campus?

Patrons can currently view 25 films on Swank Digital Campus. The films have been selected by various faculty members to fulfill course requirements. Titles will be exchanged for others each semester. 

  • Is closed captioning available?

            Yes, closed captioning is available for most films. 

  • How do I access closed captioning?

In web-based platforms, sub-titles are utilized in the same way that closed caption files were available on DVD players. Many of the titles in Digital Campus have English sub-titles with audio cues. To access, click the gear icon in the lower right-hand corner of the video player.

  • Can I watch films on my mobile device?

Yes, students may download the Swank app for Apple and Android devices. Please see the "Get the App" box to the left for more information.

Get The App

Stream feature films chosen by COM faculty to support courses from studios like MGM, Paramount, and Sony on your Android or iOS device. Here's how:

  1. Install the app on your device (See links for Apple or Android below).
  2. Login to the MSU Portal
  3. Select Library Databases
  4. Click on the Databases A to Z button.
  5. Click the letter S to search for Swank.
  6. Select a movie to stream. 
  7. The Swank app will launch automatically once you click on a title to play.
