Interlibrary Loan

📚 What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

A free service that allows you to borrow books, articles, and other materials** from libraries across the country when they aren’t available at Moffett Library.


🔍 What Can Be Requested?

✅ Books
✅ Journal articles
✅ Book chapters
✅ Conference papers
✅ DVDs or media (limited availability)

❌ Not available: Textbooks, entire journal volumes, reference items


📝 How to Request

  1. Search our catalog first

  2. If the item is not available, go to:https://msutexas.edu/library/departments/ill-dept.php 

  3. Fill out the Interlibrary Loan Request Form

  4. Check your student email for updates!


How Long Does It Take?

  • Articles: 1–3 days (PDF sent to your email)

  • Books/Physical items: 1–2 weeks (depends on availability)

📬 Pick up physical items at the Circulation Desk with a valid Mustang Student ID.


Loan Periods

  • Vary depending on the lending library

  • Usually 2–4 weeks

  • Renewals may be possible — request early in your ILL account!


💸 Cost

Free for students!
Lost/damaged items may incur replacement fees.

Please note: We may obtain articles from libraries that charge for copies when a patron is willing to pay a fee for the article. This fee typically runs between $9-$11, occasionally upwards of $15 or more
