Special Collections

Offical guide to Moffett Library's Special Collections Department.

The Wichita Falls Archive documents the history and current events of Wichita Falls, Texas, and the surrounding area. While the original creation date of the collection is unknown, it is believed the collection was started by the university library around 1964 when Moffett Library was built, allowing for collection space. Items were donated by local citizens, WFISD, and the city of Wichita Falls, which were deeply involved in the formation of Wichita Falls Junior College and remain, crucial supporters of the university, today. Items include local government/school records, phone books, materials regarding Sheppard AFB, the Juanita Kinsey U.S.O collection, books about the area, books by local authors, and pamphlets from various women’s clubs. The Wichita Falls collection serves as a repository, preserving the history and heritage of the Wichita Falls region, the home of Midwestern State University.
