The Political Papers Collection contains the papers of Representative Graham Purcell, Senator John Tower, Senator Ray Farabee, and Texas Senator George Moffett. The collection began in honor of Senator Moffett with the donation of his papers in 1966, shortly after his retirement from public office. Moffett was influential in the university’s acceptance into the state system and in acquiring funds for the building of Moffett Library. Papers from other Texas-based politicians were donated in the following years from other university and state offices. The collection documents historic government events and politicians from Texas and now serves the research needs of MSU faculty and students.
Current & Future Collecting Areas:
Collecting areas for this collection include items to be added to existing individual politician paper collections. New Texas politician papers are also welcomed.
